It all started after a tennis match in the summer of 2023 while waiting for teammates to finish. The conversation began of how there are limited options for women to shop for fashionable and well performing gear for tennis, golf, and the rapidly growing sport of pickleball. Talks of opening a pro shop/boutique to offer women playing social sports clothing and accessories they couldn't find elsewhere followed.
A few short weeks later, Baseline Social was born.
Mom to Flynn, Johnny, and Peter, and wife to Mike, Katy is usually, well, shopping. When Katy told her long time college friends she was opening a boutique, their response was "finally"! Inspired by quaint shops she visits when traveling, her background in sales, her love for fashion, and her interest in tennis, Katy frequently gets asked if she'll offer personal shopping services.
Mom to Eddie, Carter & Will, and wife to Cole, Rodie finds playing tennis as a form of self care. Her background of helping adolescent girls with eating disorders is a testament to her belief in empowering women, both on and off the court. When she's not making selections and working with vendors for Baseline Social, you can find her at the baseball diamond and soccer field cheering on her favorite boys.
Starting Baseline Social was a natural fit for Kristyn. She has the small business experience from starting her wedding invitation business with her mom, Oliver's Twist, 17 years ago and grew up playing golf. After encouragement from her husband, Ben, to take up tennis, she reluctantly signed up for a clinic that she knew no one in and the rest is history. She quickly realized starting a business is like having babies. You figure it out as you go, and when you do it again, you have forgotten most of what you learned the first time! She is always eager to learn something new, whether it be how to watercolor paint or how to hit an overhead from the baseline. When she isn't working on her adventures in entrepreneurship, she's either sitting on the front porch with her husband or watching their sons play golf and tennis.
